Welcome to St Nicholas' Church

At the centre of Charlwood for nearly 950 years

St Nicholas' Church stands at the centre of the village. People have been worshipping here since the church was built in c.1080.                                   The church is within the Diocese of Southwark.

Unfortunately we have, again, had to close the church, but we are doing services over the telephone. It is difficult to know when things will change so please do keep an eye on the News Sheet (below) for the latest dates and times of services etc. and how to connect to the telephone services.

Although normally the church is open daily for quiet prayer or for you to view this historic building, this is not possible at the moment. However if you would like to visit the church for private prayer please do make contact.

While in lockdown we are progressing some work to repair some tombs in the churchyard for which we require a faculty (church planning permission). As with all planning permission this involves displaying a notice prior to the granting of the permission. As the church is not currently open we are required to display it on this website. Please click here to view the notice.
